Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller on the set of Elementary
It was only a matter of time before Elementary made it across the Atlantic; the US version of the BBC's hugely successful Sherlock is just one of a raft of American shows snapped up by Sky.
Elementary, a modern-day take on the iconic detective, stars Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr Joan Watson. The action moves from Baker Street in London to New York City. Elementary will premiere on Sky Living in autumn 2012.
Also heading to Sky are two vehicles that have received a good deal of positive buzz from US critics. The Following is a terrifying cat-and-mouse thriller starring Kevin Bacon as a former FBI agent and the UK's very own James Purefoy (Rome) as a serial killer.
Vegas is the true story of cowboy-turned-sheriff Ralph Lamb played by Dennis Quaid. Set in the 1960s (in, er, Las Vegas), it depicts his dealings with Chicago gangster Johnny Savino (The Shield's Michael Chiklis). Devised by Goodfellas writer Nicholas Pileggi, Vegas and The Following will both air on Sky Atlantic.
Sky1 is the place to be if you're a DC Comics fan; Arrow, due to air in autumn 2012, reinvents the Green Arrow. It stars Stephen Amell of The Vampire Diaries fame.
