Olivia Pope (played by Kerry Washington) is a fixer; she takes on the biggest scandals and makes them go away. She is extremely disciplined with her emotions - to the point where she's known for not crying.
Olivia is revered and feared; having dedicated her life to protecting the public images of the nation's elite, she will do whatever it takes to keep the unsavoury under wraps. However, her clients are not the only ones with secrets - Olivia's got a few of her own...
A New York native, Kerry Washington's Hollywood career really took off following her appearance in the movie, Ray. More recently she has starred in Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls, with Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia 'Cosby Show' Rashad and Janet Jackson. Kerry is one of the few black women in America to headline a broadcast network show.

Kerry Washington is a beautiful and talented black woman and yes it' s a disgrace that it' been 38yrs, since Get Christy Love!! (1974) with Teresa Graves as a leading minority in a film. It was a big hit.
'You're under arrest, Sugah'..lol
I hope the UK viewers give this show a chance and prove that minorities can pull in viewers. As we all know (well, maybe not every one), when a black actress gets work, she puts her heart and soul into the role, ’cause she knows it may be a couple of years, before (and if) she gets work again.
