The hype for HBO's Girls is as huge as the pressure to live up to expectations. Sky Atlantic's latest US import has already been hailed as: "Bold, confessional and furiously funny" by the Radio Times. The Guardian calls it: "The show everyone is talking about."

Created by and starring filmmaker Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture) and co-executive produced by Judd Apatow (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Superbad and Bridesmaids to name but a few), Girls is a comedy about four 20-somethings in New York.

They are (from left to right): Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), Hannah (Lena Dunham) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet).

So far, so Sex and the City, right? Not exactly. Appearances can be deceiving.
