A difference:
Lucy Liu acknowledged a key point to note about the BBC production: "Sherlock is much more action-orientated and stylised, more like a mini-series for cable TV. We are more straightforward, and we're not doing any stunts, really. There are no slow-motion bullets in our show."

Fact: Lucy Liu is not the first to play a female Watson. There was a made for tv movie/pilot about Holmes being found in suspended animation and woken. In that he is a heroin addict and Watson is the descendant of the original Watson. There was also a hint that Moriarty had frozen himself as well, this was in America as well. An obscure movie perhaps, but not too bad for when it was made on a low budget. What was funny about the show was Holmes' skills being out of date for the 20thcentury, for example when he meets a police chief and believes the name on the cup to be a nickname for him when in fact it was the name of the store he bought it from.
