Filming has only just started for CBS drama Elementary in America, but already the show has been shrouded in controversy.
The drama sets the traditional adventures of detective Sherlock Holmes in New York City - news many Sherlock fans weren't too pleased to hear!
What's more, in Elementary, Sherlock's companion is Joan Watson (rather than John) and will be played by Charlie's Angel star Lucy Liu. We're excited to see how she'll play Sherlock's trusty sidekick...

Give me a break!... these stories are so old that they have to be updated.. and the guy richie movie was brilliant!... as is the british 'Sherlock'... if you don't like it then don't watch it.... i think arthur Conan Doyle is probably happy that his Character is still relevant enough to warrant all these remakes!... if you like the more traditional sherlock then there are plenty of movies and tv shows that depict him as such... don't get a stick up your arse because someone actually cares enough about the character to bring him up to date and keep him fresh in a new generations minds...
I don't know if this american version will be any good but i'm keeping an open mind... lucy is really hot after all!..;).. hey and at least jonny is English!.. remember.. it's not all about YOU!...

To be honest I don't think Arthur Conan Doyle would have cared in the least, he always thought that the Sherlock Holmes stories overshadowed his other historical novels (which he thought were far superior). If they had updated 'Sir Nigel' or 'The White Company' (if that's even possible) it would be a different matter to him.
With so many versions of the stories made over the years they do have to make changes here and there so that they are not treading over the same ground time after time. I love the bbc Sherlock and the Guy Ritchie films so will definitely give it a try even though I do have my doubts about it.

Arthur Conan Doyle will be turning in his grave knowing his beloved stories of Sherlock Holmes are to be used and trashed by the American's. The Sherlock Holmes stories are not for retelling in such a disrespectful way, they were written and set in a specific era. Then again this is not the first time Sherlock Holmes has been tweaked and trashed. The film that Guy Richie directed was bad, portraying Sherlock Holmes as an untidy, dirty, erratic eccentric, when the original character is a smart dressed intelligent eccentric. Then the BBC tried to bring Sherlock Holmes up to date within the 21st Century, total failure in my eyes. Certain stories should be left well alone and the people that take and destroy the originals should get an imagination of their own and create their own characters and stories and stop making money of other peoples ideas.

really? this still got the go ahead? with all issues they had against team moffat? this will suck. and the hint of romance??? indeed they used it in sherlock for comedic effect, 2 guys living together, sherlock is a bit flamboyant....... it's funny. sherlock and watson actually getting it on? and the survey says?............
