The star of the hit TV series has died in Italy, aged 51.
New pictures: Doctor Who - The Asylum Of The Daleks
Trust us, Daleks are terrifying. They may look a little like washing up baskets with toilet plungers attached to them but Daleks are actually a force to be reckoned with. Just ask Doctor Who – he’s come face to face with the dastardly Daleks more times than we can remember and now, Matt Smith’s Doctor, is about to bump into them yet again. Yikes – rather him than us!
The Doctor returns for a seventh series and the opening episode, Asylum Of The Daleks, looks like it could be a Hollywood blockbuster.
Don’t believe us? Take a look at our sneak peek gallery with snaps from the episode – just make sure you have your sonic screwdriver ready!

" Just ask Doctor Who – he’s come face to face..."
No, just ask THE DOCTOR. If you're going to try to be a Whovian, at least get it right. Jeez. :-P
I think that it's a but sad that for someone who can travel through space and time that the writers aren't more imaginative enough to keep constantly coming back to the Daleks. Matt Smith is relatively new in the role and already he has met up with the Daleks on several occasions. The same goes for the Weeping Angels. Freshen things up a bit please!!! New imaginative writers who don't feel the need to constantly be rolling out the same tired old 'villans'. Watching the pictures in the gallery it just makes me think .... "we've seen it all before".
Thank you for getting rid of Amy Pond and Rory - it will make Dr Who that much more watchable.
''Is the Doctor about to be attacked with a toilet plunger?!'' Lol.
''Now the Doctor is being attacked by two toilet plungers!'' HA!
Dear Me! **** 88 Is a most ignorant and profane man, is he not? The fellow appears to be struggling along on one of the bottom rungs of the evolutionary scale himself, somewhere far below **** Neanderthalis I should imagine!
The current Doctor is somewhat reminiscent of Patrick Troughton’s Doctor, which is good, and as for his appearance, well, he has a suitable alien aspect, which surely is also far better than appearing like ‘everyman’ - isn’t it?
All good luck to the new Dr. Who series, lest we forget the famine of the quite pitiful Michael Grade error - sorry, era! Always loved the Dalek stories, right from 1963!

Still a great shame having to scroll through the pointless and irrelevant spam on here, sad that these people have so little else to do...
Anyway, back to the proper topic!
I have been a science fiction reader all my life, some of it has serious points to make, some of it is just for fun.
So I have watched Dr Who since it first came to the television, enjoyed much of it, but have now stopped watching it at all.
The series which revived Dr Who, in which David Tenant took the part had good, new and clever storylines, and I thought he played the part well, utter fantasy but with a sense of humour, pure entertainment.
Since then, It has unfortunately in my opinion selected bland characterless actors and tried to hold it together with just Daleks and Cybermen, stuff from over forty years ago.
Is it so beyond the current writers to come up with something new?
