Is it really 15 years since the world was introduced to Buffy The Vampire Slayer on TV? In the show, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as our butt-kicking heroine, Buffy Summers hunts vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness in the fictional setting of Sunnydale, California.
She's joined by a diverse group (nicknamed 'The Scooby Gang'), including Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan), Alexander "Xander" Harris (Nicholas Brendon), and her watcher Giles (British actor Anthony Head). But if this was merely a tale of slaying evil beasts, Buffy would have shared the fate of ITV1's Demons, and disappeared without trace.
Instead, creator and showrunner Joss Whedon helmed a masterpiece of television. Buffy is packed with innovative episodes, brilliantly-drawn characters, profound explorations of themes (such as good vs evil, life and death, love and hate), humour, friendship, religion and more.
Deeply nuanced and layered, it's only fitting that Buffy is feted and celebrated as we take a look at 15 of the best episodes in this gallery.
Once More With Feeling - The musical episode originally broadcast back in 2001. A demon casts a spell that causes residents to spontaneously burst into song. Those under the influence of the music are compelled to reveal their darkest fears and deepest secrets - and eventually burst into flames. This episode has had a marked influence on television, seen in the musical interludes in the likes of Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy.

People forget how brilliant this show was. It blended comedy, action, horror, romance, and raised issues never discussed on tv before. It basically created the 'character arc' we see on all shows today, and Joss Whedon is respected as one of the best tv writers of all time. Most importantly, it never took itself too seriously and ended while it was still entertaining. All with good actors, unlike tv today.
It truly is a masterpiece from beginning to end, and changed the way tv shows are written.
(and it's where 'Faith Summers' comes from!)

Oh, how I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, although strangely she was one of my least favourite characters in it.
Loved Drusilla, Willow, Evil Willow, Xander, Anya, the nerdy Andrew, Spike, Giles, Cordelia.... and then the spin-off, we got the fantastic Winifred Burkle. Oh, how mad I was when they destroyed Fred and then ended the Angel series 'mid-season' with a bloodbath.

God i miss program's like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Angel". Everything that comes out now just doe's not last and has no staying power like they did. Watched every episode of both show's and have the complete box set's to prove it. Started watching "Heroes" and that went after about 5 season's and then there was "Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicle's" which lasted just 2 season's which Fox network is to blame as they ended that program with such a stupidly rushed ending, then left it on a cliff-hanger with no new season to show you how it wound end.
As the Buffy serie's is concerned the actor's and actresses wanted to move in to film's and the Angel serie's was supposed to go on for 1 more season. But because of the creator it didn't.
Just wish they would come up with something along the same line's as these program's that would capture the imagination and keep you wondering what would happen next like i used to.

Can't believe it's 15, i started watching in 2000 when series 1 repeats were on the bbc,when i was 13
grown up with the show and it has given me many strengths at times. You just don't get characters
layerd in the same way on any other show!, still watch it to this day.
However can't believe that 'the zeppo" is in this list, i watched it last night as im rewatching
the season three box set, but then out of the 144 episodes about three quarters are fantastic
episodes, but everyone forgets season 1's series finale, which was simple in it's execution but
stunning all the less.
The gift happens to be the most beautiful episode of television i have ever seen,
this was definatly the best tv show as it had all the elements, it could make you laugh, cry or scare you silly, second of course had to be Angel, although it was much darker and the ending
sucked.
