Asked about Sir Tom Stoppard's adaptation, Benedict said: "On a domestic drama level it's cosmetically about a failed relationship; two people who love each other, but want utterly different things from each other and end up destroying each other in the process."

The teeniest weeniest mention of the genius without whom this entire venture would not have seen the light of day would have been welcome: Ford Madox Ford, author of "the novel" - actually a sequence of four(a tetralogy) - published in the 1920s, and considered by many to be the greatest work of fiction to emerge from the First World War.

£148 p.a or £12.33 per month compared to £70 per month or £840 p.a for Sky TV......AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN !
The recent History Plays on BBC2 were worth the licence fee alone. The Olympics coverage has been awsome....not a broadcaster anywhere in the world could come close to it. Yes ,the BBC are not perfect but compared to the mindless dross that ITV and Sky churn out , they are Gold Medalists !!

Why doesn't the BBC spare us and earn it's own money like others channels do? But no..... they want to charge us £148 a year, so that they can pay their fat cats millions in salary, and torture us with advert free nonsense like Eastenders!
