AQA 63336, the UK’s most accurate text question and answer service, has revealed that the public were right to choose James Arthur as their X Factor 2012 winner. The finalist performed best on the night with only 8 bum notes, far less than One Direction, Rita Ora and Rihanna!

(C) Rex
On Sunday night Arthur's rendition of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On had a count of four off key notes. Rihanna's hit Stay had seven.

AQA 63336 use expert researchers with the gift of perfect pitch to analyse how often acts hit the right and wrong notes. When examining the results, we quickly realised that the tuneless award had to go to chart-toppers One Direction.

In their short performance of new single Everytime We Touch, Harry Styles was the worst offender, hitting eight bum notes. Liam hit seven, Zayn five, Niall two and Louis one. Ouch!

So... well done Britain!
It seems you can spot the one man who can hold a note. Doesn't say much for the mega-stars though does it?

Sorry but I have to say it, GET IN! James Arthur is the winner of The X Factor 2012.

(C) Rex
It was a nail-biting final but time after time, James seemed to have the upper hand. Jahmene nailed every vocal but Arthur's bluesy rasp was ever accompanied by a face that felt the song and eyes that sold every word. He had to win it.

James charmed the crowd from the get-go with his favourite song of the series, Let's Get It On.

Tulisa Contostavlos was smitten: “James, I know I’ve said it a million times during the series; we’re here, we all feel like we’re at a James Arthur concert. You’ve done it again tonight and that’s why you deserve to win.”

Gary Barlow gushed: “You’re ready right now to get out there and play shows and I can tell you now mate. I’m ready to download your album right away.”

Arthur also performed his own version of Shontelle's Impossible. This could have given him that final push as it was virtually pitch perfect.

When Dermot O'Leary announced the winner, James was speechless. "Did I win... really? I don't know what to say, thank you."

Runner-up Jahmene Douglas was humble in defeat. "It's been a pleasure to share the stage with such talent!"

Are you happy with tonight's result?

AQA 63336, the UK’s most accurate text question and answer service, has revealed that Jahmene Douglas was consistently the most out of tune contestant on Saturday night’s live X Factor final. Surprisingly, superstars Kylie Minogue and Kelly Clarkson had more bum notes than James Arthur!

(C) RexAccording to AQA 63336, Jahmene hit 20 wrong notes in his first performance of Move On Up and a further 17 in his duet with Nicole Scherzinger.

Meanwhile Chris, who was booted out of the competition following a slew of bad press and boos, hit 25 bad notes in total.

Neither could match show favourite James Arthur who actually out-performed Kylie, Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow on the night – hitting just eight poor notes in total; the least in any single performance.

AQA 63336 uses expert researchers with the gift of perfect pitch to analyse how often acts hit the right and wrong notes.

X Factor finalist Christopher Maloney has finally left the show. After giving what may have been his best performances to date, he bowed out with a bang in front of a 10,000 strong Manchester crowd.

(C) ITV
The singer performed Irene Cara's What a Feeling and duetted with mentor Gary Barlow. His rendition of Rule The World was pitch perfect.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger applauded : "You know what, it's not easy what you just did up there. Enjoy this moment right now because I know how hard you've worked to be here.

Louis Walsh said: "You're the peoples' champion. You always come out fighting. You always deliver. I loved your high notes. Christopher, you've done it, you've changed your life, and you're not going back to Liverpool."

Tulisa Contostavlos smiled: "This must be an amazing moment for you, you've come such a long way. There've been times you haven't been my cup of tea, but you're here, you're a fighter, and you're always yourself."

Mentor Gary Barlow added: "It's important at this point to remember the history of you in this competition. Basically, I got it wrong. I didn't have you in my final three.

"You're back here because everybody voted for you as a Wild Card. You've had masses of criticism and so much more than a performance to overcome each week. You deserve to be in the final."

In the past, Christopher has been criticised for being 'cruise ship' and 'karaoke', but both Nicole and Louis agreed he'd proved his worth: "I think he's going to make a record, he's going to tour. This is going to change his life."

On making it through to Sunday's second stage, finalists Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur were over the moon. James admitted jumping up and down 'like a girl', while Jahmene finally showed some excitement and screamed with the crowd

In defeat, Chris was proud of himself. "I feel like I've already won. After all the bad press and lies, I was the third finalist."

Did the right contestant leave tonight?

X Factor's Christopher Maloney may have the whole of Liverpool behind him (and Nannas everywhere!) but regardless of the rumours that he's topping the vote week after week, the polls say James Arthur will take the X Factor title.

(C) Rex

According to online popularity polls, 59% of X Factor finalist video searches have 'James Arthur' in the title. Christopher is the least popular with a mere 15% in comparison.

If the polls are anything to go by then statistically it's a two horse race. Jahmene Douglas is creeping up with 26% of the searches so far, but that count was taken before an influx of activity yesterday... Can Jahmers catch Jimmy?

I suppose the most important thing to consider is how many Nannies go on the internet? Surely that makes a difference?

Christopher Maloney's web searches may be dwindling and he may be seen by some as 'a joke' but like Gary Barlow said, "he's made it this far." Will he surprise us all?

X Factor 2012 finalist Christopher Maloney has hit back at critics who claim he's 'a joke'. He's the first to say that he's earned his place in the final and he's competing for the public who put him there.

(C) Rex
Ahead of this week's final, Chris spoke to The Sun about being compared to X Factor winner Steve Brookstein: “You’re joking aren’t you? He’s got his own talent and does his own thing, but I’m completely different.”

He also dismissed Louis Walsh's claims that Simon Cowell has no interest in him.  “Simon does what he wants to do. It’s his show and if he didn’t want me in it I probably wouldn’t be here.”

Louis has always been vocal about his opinion of Chris. While insisting that Simon's never mentioned him, he added his own view. “He is a good singer, but I don’t think he's a star.”

Fellow judge Tulisa agreed: “I’d prefer James to win but whoever wins wins.”

Maloney may be the Marmite act of this year's competition but there's no question that his fans love him and are letting their fingers do the talking. Mentor and judge Gary Barlow knows that any publicity is good publicity and surprisingly, he's happy about the attention.

“The stick from Tulisa and Louis has been a good thing. He’s the underdog but he sings consistently well each week. When I was given the over-28s category everyone was thinking, ‘What are you going to do.’ It’s the joke category — and here we are in the final.”

The fans are obviously voting in droves. Do you think Christopher can win X Factor 2012?

It's a shock result, X Factor favourites Union J are the next act to leave.
As the only boy band left on the show, they gave it their all but they just couldn't pull the public vote from finalists Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and (surprisingly) Christopher Maloney.

Yep, I nearly fell over too!

(C) Rex
Dermot O'Leary revealed that the lads knew it was coming. "You've been saying you're going home all day."

Band member Josh Cuthbert nodded, "I'm just so happy with how well we've done. We've got so much to thank the X Factor for."

Jamie 'JJ' Hamblett was gracious in defeat. "We want to wish the guys the best of luck."

Mentor Louis Walsh has no acts in this year's final. He was disappointed that Union J didn't quite make it but was sure they'd be signed. "We were ready for it. They're still going to be the next big boyband!"

Jahmene Douglas was speechless when he heard he'd made the final while James Arthur was convinced he'd be the one to go, "I had a bad feeling, I can't believe it."

As always Christopher Maloney thanked the voting public. Both he and Gary Barlow could have hit the roof when the news came. I think they were more surprised than anyone else.

There's been so many rumours about Christopher Maloney being the big hitter when it comes to votes. Do you think he could with The X Factor 2012?

Personally, I can't believe he's made the final. He murdered that Buble track and I thought he was off.

X Factor mentor Gary Barlow has revealed that he's 'not sure' if he could judge the show alongside Simon Cowell. He's also hinted that he may leave The X Factor for Take That.

(C) PA Images
When asked about the rumours relating to Simon's return, Barlow told the Daily Mirror: “Could I judge alongside Simon Cowell if he comes back? Mmm, I don’t know.”

Sharon Osbourne and Dannii Minogue
have already expressed an interest in returning to the judging panel, could the new-gen judges be on their way out?

Gary added that Take That hope to record an album and tour in 2013. Surely he wouldn't have time for the X Factor. How would he mentor his acts?

“Take That are far from over. We’re all creative, we’re singers and songwriters. There’s plenty left in us, don’t worry.”

Could next year's panel be a blast from the past?
Is that what the X Factor needs?
