HMV lists Amelia Lily as X Factor's 2011 winner

Never underestimate a keen-eyed X Factor fan; that's what HMV.com have learned the hard way today.

 

The site contained a listing for 'Amelia Lily X Factor 2011 Winners Single', but searches for the exact same track by finalists Little Mix - who are the bookies' favourites - and Marcus Collins produced no results.

As the curious flocked - in their thousands - to see the listing, the site went down and fans promptly jumped on the "fix" bandwagon.

 

On social media site Twitter, one person tweeted: "@TheXFactor A BIG FIX, HMV website has a cd due to be released monday (Amelia lily winners single) why is there only one for her" and another noted: "HMV are already allowing pre orders of Amelia Lily's x factor winners single. Obviously a fix... #awkward"

 

An HMV spokesperson has clarified the matter: "It's just come to light that there was a technical issue uploading details of two of the artists to our site, which meant that only Amelia Lily's details appeared. However, these have been temporarily removed so that all three finalists details will go up simultaneously tomorrow morning. Once up, fans will be able to pre-order the single by their preferred finalist but only orders for the eventual winner's single will be processed and charged for. This was due to an unforeseen technical issue, and nothing further should be construed from it."

 

However, it's hard not to draw the conclusion that this oversight may cost Amelia Lily a good few votes.

I think this is wrong. Whether it is a fix or not this is unfair. If it is a fix then it is unfair to the other contstents who now feel like they don't have a chance of winning and don't feel like they have any support. If it wasn't a fix then it is unfair on Amelia Lily who now is going to lose votes because people think its a fix and don't want her to win. Ridiculous. This show has become totally pathetic, Nothing decent left of it anymore and I certainly won't want to be watching it anymore.

hahaha, i had to laugh at how this report ended 'it may cost Amelia a few lost votes', was she getting any, did she need any? Most people saw a fix coming at the way she was returned to the show. Its not her fault, but  she will be remembered for all this confusion, Well done Simon,another brilliantly stupid idea.   Maybe it is time these programs that rely on the  'viewers vote' costing the Joe Mug public money, was under a watch dog, an independent body that oversees fairness and not for corrupting.  Either that, or just have 7 independent judges, and seperate mentors, and an audience vote, OK it may be of less interest to viewers, but i for one want to see somebody win fairly and deservingly.

How do we actually know who gets the most votes? For instance, everyone could vote for just Marcus, but if they tell us that Amelia received the most, we'd have to believe them as there's no way in the world we'd be able to prove otherwise. Only one winner every year, Simon, KERCHING!!

Mr Cowell must think the british public are not only stupid but must have money to burn when phoning their votes..........even worse alot of children get their parents permission to phone to place votes, it appears all us parents are doing is keeping his boat afloat in Barbados and lining his pockets with the hard earned money of the british public!!!! I'd challenge Mr. Cowell to get my children tickets to the final so they can see it's NOT a fix!!!!!

Mr cowell makes all of this speculation by making people think that Amelia has won already and sticks a Couple of large wads on Marcus to win with his newly longer odds, and the winner is........... Simon ( anyway )

fi X Factor known it for years just wish everyone else would sit up and see it, only way to stop this is to have free phone votes..... oh no Simon wont make any money

X-Fixer Farce - when Kelly Rowland announced on the Graham Norton show, it's good to have Amelia back, the night before she returned, confirmed what I have always thought of the X-Factor, it's fixed. Last year it became more apparent because of Vagner and the awful Jedwards. I complained to OFCOM and nothing was done, I have done the same thing this year and what do we have, nothing? The only thing OFCOM were interested in was Tulisa advertising her perfume? What a feckin joke.

 

Government bodies that are set up to investigate and uphold consumercomplaints, don't give a toss about you or I however, if some rich git who takes offence at flagrant, (I said flagrant) advertising, lol then, it looks like OFCOM will do something.

 

I think anyone who has ever voted for contestants on the X-Fixer should get a refund! That will eat into the profits of ITV and Cowell's profits again!

what! x factor a fix no sht sherlock has been from start money spinner for cowel and co. Vote nirvana for xmas no one stick it to cowel again. lets face it these are the folk that thrust they two oxygen thieves jedward upon the world to steal children with no taste yet (not their fault the children that is ) not had time to gain the aspect of what they think is good is just someone blowing bubbles out their asses.thats cowels thing rob the kids of their pocket money and become incredibly rich at their expense. the man has no shame at all.

@Patricia.  I have to say, me and my hubby sit here taking the pee out of Louis, because he seems to tell every contestant they deserve to be in the final, and telling the area where the contestant comes from to vote!    Open-mouthed

I am with Mike glover on that point.
how do we know who actually wins as there is no independent adjudication on any of the shows so they can get rid of who they like without anybody any the wiser, then pick there own winner.
And it is not just the fiX Factor, all these phone vote shows are the same and should be regulated independently when you look at the amount of money involved when millions of people vote

@Someone  Little Mix are getting a huge amount of publicity? Where exactly, because I haven't seen it! Any X Factor article I've read has been about Misha B or Amelia of late

@Patricia. How was the way Amelia was originally sent home unfair? Personally, I don't think the fact she's appeared less than the others will have an impact. Most viewers hadn't forgotten about her. However, it's going to appear mightily suspicious now if she does win, so you 'damned if she does, damned if she doesn't' sums it up perfectly.  I think she's got a great voice, so hopefully someone will give her a recording contract anyway Smile

the x factor so called winner is always the kiss of death look at Matt  WHO Cardle? already forgotton and with no relevance in the music industry and with that little bombshell i safely predict that Marcus Collins will win the x factor Marcus who?

Marcus will probably be sabotaged next. I think it's fixed for Little Mix to win given the huge amount of publicity they're getting, compared to Marcus and Amelia. Simon has decided that he wants a group, especially being a female one, to win this year and what the man wants he gets.

When they brought back Amelia Lily I knew there was something going on and now what I said has been proved right,if the cat is out of the bag and she goes onto win then we will know what everyone has being saying it is a fix,though it's been denied vehemnantly come the final we will know for sure and then people who have been watching like myself just don't watch it again boycott it,then the programme will finish and no more fix xfactor.

Anybody  with two brain cells knew it was a fix . It was never about talent  , more a beauty  contest  , style parade or a gimmick  . That's why the music charts & any facts or figures are now ignored . That's why  people who are not fans of Cowell are saying people such as him are ruining not just weekend t.v. but  why modern music is not  moving on . He uses an old format  &  most of the music  ,is "cover" versions ,mostly old or obscure so most folks are not quite sure if they have heard it before . But much more stories such as this will send the show the way of the Dodo , which is more than it deserves .As a bonus Cowell may scuttle-off to the U.S. .

Amelia was dropped by her mentor and brought back by the public. She was by far the best last week (though that's not saying much) and deserves to win but this is a popularity contest, not a talent contest.
