All the latest news and gossip from The X Factor...

Wow! What a night. The auditionees came and conquered tonight, and two stood head and shoulders above the rest. Not only did they have the vocals but both were far from the X Factor 'norm'. Yep, you guessed it. Joseph Whelan and Melanie Masson are our first X Factor rock stars! Bow down...

Joseph Whelan brought the house down with his rendition of Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin. The ladies in the crowd had fallen for him before he sang a note, he had the looks and the right attitude. "I have a four year old boy and I just want to give him the best start... that's why I'm doing this."
Judge Tulisa Contostavlos tried to talk to him as he walked onstage but he couldn't hear her for the ladies screaming and when he opened his mouth to sing, it only made it worse. Joe has a high pitch rock voice that comes from nowhere, the judges couldn't believe it.
Standing ovation and amazing comments:
Gary Barlow was gushing, "such power" and Tulisa was in awe "what a voice, you smashed it!" The most shocking thing was that Scary Spice Mel B couldn't string two words together... it was all good, but gibberish. A little flustered like the rest of the ladies Mel?

Melanie Masson is possibly the sweetest squishiest woman that ever lived. She's not known as Melanie but as Fairy Flutterbye as she holds a weekly music class for the under 5's 'Fairy Flutterbye's Rockabye's' and she's in full costume.
To say she shocked the audience after her twee little intro is an understatement. The crowd sat back expecting some weedy fluffy rendition of Twinkle Twinkle when what they got was sensational, high voltage, bang the volume up, kick ass version of Janis Joplin's Cry Baby. Game on!
Even Gary Barlow had to applaud her. "That was insane, oh my God that voice. You were guiding us and telling the story, it was amazing... it really was."
Louis Walsh was beaming, "You're 44, this is what this show is all about. To find someone with your talent!"
Guest judge Anastacia said it all, "You're never too old to get a record deal baby!"
Can you believe the amount of talent we had tonight?

The quality of vocal talent on this show is appalling if only it wasn't fixed people would be shocked at how many great singers there are in this country, but unfortunately unless you are previously signed to Cowel or Walsh you have NO chance of passing the audition for the audition, EVERYBODY in the industry knows this, if your rubbish fine, if your signed up fine, if your better than those signed.....NO CHANCE!
