X Factor shock result: Carolynne Poole loses out to Rylan Clark!

I cannot believe I am about to write this but Carolynne Poole is the first contestant to leave the X factor. The talented, two-time auditionee was controversially ousted after mentor Louis Walsh put her through, then changed his mind.
Rylan and Carolynne found themselves in the sing-off after a nail biting public vote. Tulisa Contostavlos was the first to say that Carolynne shouldn't be there, "you have an amazing voice but there's so many amazing voices this year."
Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger applauded Rylan's 'entertaining' efforts but Gary Barlow was less impressed. "I'm glad you're using the technique of pulling the mic away from you, then we don't have to hear you sing."
Both Gary and Tulisa voted to save Carolynne, while Nicole opted for her own act. Louis Walsh was last to vote and initially chose to save Carolynne. As the singer began to celebrate, presenter Dermot O'Leary asked Louis to 'confirm this' and he shouted, "I want to take it to deadlock!"
The audience gasped at the judges sudden change of heart and within seconds the public vote was revealed. Rylan Clarke was through!
Carolynne's head fell in her hands, the crowd booed and Head Judge Gary Barlow stormed off stage, (I can't say I blame him). Surprisingly Poole was relatively calm, "I'm glad that Rylan's been given a shot, he's a lovely guy but I'm gutted."
Surely there has to be more to this? An investigation, Simon Cowell stepping in, a public flogging? A judge can't put one act through and then change his mind. What on earth just happened?
