EastEnders bosses have insisted that Bradley Branning will not be committing suicide in the live 25th anniversary episode to be aired next month. Apparently, the BBC dismissed reports that Bradley, played by actor Charlie Clements, will leap to his death off a building in Albert Square.

As we all know, in November Charlie Clements announced his decision to leave EastEnders after four years in the soap.  At the time, EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said: "Viewers will miss Charlie hugely and I can promise a big exit."

What's going on in the soaps this week? Well, as one Mitchell gets ready to depart from EastEnders (Peggy, played by Barbara Windsor), another one gets ready to make a mark.

The Mitchell clan swells again with the news that Ronnie and Roxy have a long lost brother. His name is Danny and he's a real looker. Danny is played by 24-year-old actor Liam Bergin, currently best known for playing Rupert in Trinity. He has also had small roles in Doctors and Five's terrible 2009 remake of Minder.

We'll start with some good news. EastEnders actress Jo Joyner is "thrilled" after giving birth to twins. she's had a baby girl and boy. The 31-year-old actress, who plays Tanya Branning, struggled to conceive naturally and underwent IVF treatment. Congratulations on the birth of your son and daughter Jo!

With the news that Barbara Windsor is going to be leaving EastEnders, you do wonder who Pat Evans will spar with. She's had some right old ding dongs with Peggy Mitchell over the years and I shall definitely miss the comedy value. They remind me of a far less glamorous Krystle and Alexis in Dynasty and their annual fights which were just ridiculously camp. But don't underestimate the value of a double act. Phil Mitchell's never been the same since he lost his 'bruv' thanks to Ross Kemp's depature.

We were all saddened to hear about the passing away of the Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones who played the much-loved soap character Blanche Hunt.

Jone's funeral took place at a church in London on December 15th where a private ceremony was attended by cast members and other colleagues as well as family and close friends. At the same time, a minute's silence was held on the Coronation Street set in Manchester to enable those who couldn't attend to pay their respects.  A spokeswoman for the show said: "It was a beautiful and dignified service."

Speaking on This Morning earlier this week, producer, Kim Crowther confirmed that Maggie’s soap character, Blanche  Hunt, will get an on-screen funeral later this year.  As some of you may already be aware, the occasion will also see the comeback of Blanche's wayward granddaughter, Tracy Barlow, played by actress Kate Ford.

Big news - breaking news! Actress Kate Ford, better known as Tracy Barlow, is set to return to Coronation Street! This coming spring, viewers will see Tracy in prison where she'll tangle with another well-loved Corrie character.

Tracy is the biological daughter of Deirdre and Ray Langton. She is Ken Barlow's adopted daughter and is currently serving a jail sentence for murdering her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs. ITV's Coronation Street site reports that after this initial first stint, which will last a couple of months, Tracy will be back in Weatherfield again at the end of the year.
