Calm down, calm down! It's only two reality soaps
Any doubts so-called 'reality soaps' are taking over will be swept aside at the news that two more UK-based shows are heading for our TV screens.
Hot on the heels of the Bafta-winning The Only Way Is Essex, aka TOWIE, (ITV2), Made In Chelsea (E4) and Geordie Shore (MTV) comes Liverpool-set programmes Desperate Scousewives (no, really), to be broadcast on Channel 4, and MTV's Mersey Shore.
Mersey Shore is yet another in the series inspired by the American phenomenon Jersey Shore. The Geordie version has been such a hit for MTV that the entire cast will film two episodes in Magaluf. How apropos.

Little wonder a Mersey spin-off has been commissioned; casting sessions are said to be underway. The Sun reports that...
A selection of Blue Peter trivia as the show moves to Manchester
Blue Peter says farewell in style to the west London studio at BBC TV Centre which has been its home for over half a century.
The programme moves to the corporation's new MediaCityUK home in Salford where the next series begins in the autumn.

Hundreds joined current Blue Peter presenters Helen Skelton, Barney Harwood and Andy Akinwolere in the TVC's "doughnut" area (a circular plaza) for an attempt on the world record for "the most people dancing with hula hoops".
But Blue Peter is already a record-breaker as our selection of trivia celebrating the show illustrates...
Ricky Gervais comedy reaches a landmark age
Has it really been 10 years since The Office made its debut on the BBC? Where has all the time gone? Not only was this the show to launch Ricky Gervais on the road to superstardom, it spawned a hugely successful US version.
Winning Bafta awards for Best Comedy Performance (Ricky Gervais) and Best Situation Comedy two years running in 2002 and 2003, the series also scooped accolades in America.

At the time, The Office was the only British comedy in 25 years to be nominated for a Golden Globe, and it became the first ever to win one. The Office won Best Television Comedy Series and Ricky Gervais picked up Best Television Comedy Actor.
Critics on both sides of the Atlantic have universally acclaimed this multi-award winning comedy series. To mark its 10th anniversary, we present some trivia about The Office...
MTV's Geordie Shore girls hail their Geordie idol
Have you been watching MTV's Geordie Shore? The show (inspired by Jersey Shore, the hugely successful US version) has been a massive talking point - even with politicians.
Well, in honour of one of Newcastle's famous daughters, the Geordie Shore girls pay tribute to Cheryl Cole's most iconic looks in this week's more! magazine.

Charlotte, 21, who posed as Bondage Cheryl, told more!: "Newcastle is really trendy – it's the fashion capital of the UK. We were rocking floral garlands way before it caught on everywhere else."

But the unapproved version would probably make you spit out your coffee. When posters advertising the Blu-ray and DVD release of Spartacus Blood and Sand went through the approvals process, regulators were quick to give leading star Andy Whitfield the snip - making him half the man he used to be...

Stars out in force for the London launch of Primeval V
Primeval returns to UK television screens sooner than you think. Thanks to a ground-breaking deal between ITV, multichannel broadcaster UKTV and producers Impossible Pictures, the fifth new series will premiere on Watch on 24 May.

The show was given a suitably eye-catching launch; stars Hannah Spearitt and Andrew-Lee Potts are pictured at the London Zoo premiere celebrating fifth series Primeval V, which starts on Watch on 24 May at 8pm.
