Vampire Diaries season 3 finale!
By guest blogger Jo Horstead
The Vampire Diaries season 3 finale hits television screens tonight on ITV 2 at 9pm. For us loyal fans it’s been a long time coming. The series break over Christmas for a couple months has meant that it has taken around 8 months for us to get to the finale, which is crazy really. But now I can’t wait to see how the series ends and what new questions they leave open for the next instalment. It has recently been announced that there will be a season 4. Phew! Although it will probably be a while until it reaches UK television.
Series 3 has been highly entertaining with the predictable emotional highs and lows for all the characters. It felt a bit slow in the first few episodes and as if the characters where going over old ground, but then it really got going. The love triangle between Damon, Stefan and Elena is at the heart of the story and has really ramped up throughout the series and I have a feeling the writers will keep us dangling for a while on who Elena will choose. Hmmm…Damon? (Well, I mean, who wouldn’t?)

I didn’t really like the fact they killed off Jenna at the end of series 2 and I’ve been hoping all series for her to come back in some way. Even though, it was partly Jenna’s death that set Alaric on his current path. Alaric has taken over the parental role and it has been really interesting to see the way his character has developed; although I don’t hold out much hope for Alaric making it to series 4, so it looks like Elena and Jeremy will have to fend for themselves.
I was quite relieved that they finally managed to take Klaus down at the end of last week’s episode, I’ve really enjoyed the storyline with the original vampire family, but the Klaus story has been going on for nearly two series and I was getting a little tired of it.
So what can we expect from tonight’s finale, probably huge amounts of drama and action. I think the death of Alaric is pretty certain, but with the blood link between Elena and Alaric, what will this mean for Elena? Well, we will have to wait and see…
