TV preview: Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys.
Emma Roberts takes a look at Channel 4's outrageous new show, Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys.
To most people, rinsing is something you do with clothes, hair or dishes. But for the three stars of Channel 4’s controversially named Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys, it’s something they do to men on a regular basis. And they don’t work in a hair salon.
The show explores what Channel 4 has called, ‘the phenomenon of rinsing’.
Explanation? Well, it's when a woman uses her looks and charms to exploit men and obtain money and gifts.
Yikes. I'm not sure why a ‘rinser’ would want to go on national television to parade their morally questionable hobby, but Channel 4 has managed to find three women who are happy to do just that.
The show follows the exploits of Liverpudlian Jeanette Worthington, Danica Thrall, born in Derbyshire, and Nottingham's Hollie Capper, as they attempt to charm men into buying them things. That’s one way to survive a recession!
The girls are often spotted in the country’s hottest night spots. In addition, they are invited to the most exclusive parties where they are, more often than not, surrounded by a group of eager blokes.
However, the ladies on the show are adamant that they never have sex with the men. Instead they claim that they are always ‘just friends’ with the guys they pursue.
I can’t imagine why guys who spend hundreds on these women would be happy with having the ‘just friends’ stamp forced on them. Then again, maybe they enjoy wining and dining hot women for fun?
When they’re not hunting rich men, the girls spend their time preening themselves to look as appealing as possible to the opposite sex. No dab of lip gloss and a quick once-over with a hairbrush for these ladies; looking good is big business – they never leave the house without a full mask of make-up!
People are already talking about the show, and I can see why. I've seen the trailer and I'm intrigued. You can meet the 'rinsers' below...
Sex, Lies and Rinsing Guys will be shown on Tuesday 15 May on Channel 4 at 22:00.
Vin Diesel has revealed he has no plans to step into the director's chair in the near future.
