Dancing On Ice Exclusive: Jennifer Ellison Backstage Blog

I think my dance partner Dan Whiston and I put on a pretty good performance considering but as soon as we were off air I had to have some physio to help relieve the pain. That's the reason why Dan had to do our post skate TV chat on his own. I tried my best to look like I was enjoying the skate itself but every time he lifted me It felt like I was getting a punch in the side.

What made matters worse was that there had been an accident backstage and Chico tripped and fell next to me and we both went over. It was not his fault at all but it just made my side ache even more.

I don't think anyone could fail to see the relief on my face when Dan and I were told we wouldn’t have to skate again. There were only four couples left in the elimination when we were given the reprieve, so I can tell you the tension was intense. Please don’t get me wrong here though, I’m am totally loving every minute of being on Dancing on Ice – it’s just that Dan and I have had a few niggling injury problems but I think this week coming we should overcome these and then we can show people what we are really capable of.

Everyone on the show was sad to see Mark Rhodes go in the skate-off, he’s been one of the most popular contestants behind the scenes he has been so much fun. He’s always got a great positive attitude and is so cheerful and his optimism rubs off on everyone he comes into contact with. But even Mark admits that on the night it was the right decision for Charlene Tilton to stay in. He’ll be sorely missed though.

It was nice to be able to relax a bit at the bar in Elstree after the show.

It was an especially long day because there were so many people skating this week. I was up at 6.30am to get to Elstree Studios for rehearsals and then we didn't finish until just before midnight. After the show we had some special filming to do for a secret new element to next week's show so as soon as the audience left after the skate-off we filmed for another hour or so.

I was really glad to see my husband Robbie, sister Jemma and friends had waited for me and were still in the bar at Elstree afterwards to have a chat over a drink. This week they were wearing “Vote for Jen and Dan” T shirts and they were colour co-ordinated in a turquoise colour to match my skating dress.

We didn’t stay in the bar too long because I was pretty tired but I was so chuffed to see them there supporting me.

Anyway onwards and upwards and this week I've got choreography with Jane and Chris on Monday and I'm just going to watch that rather than participate and I've got the chance of a bit of a rest on Tuesday then I can come back and start training in earnest on Wednesday.

Dancing on Ice is on ITV1 this Sunday at the slightly later time of 6.45pm to 8.30pm, and the results show Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off is on 9.30pm to 10pm also on ITV1.
