Britain's Got Talent Returns!
But it's all change when it comes to the auditions...
Britain's Got Talent is back but this year it's all change when it comes to the auditions. BGT producers have introduced online auditions and after thousands of hopefuls uploaded their videos, the ITV team hacked their way through them and created a shortlist for the public to vote on.
The shortlisted acts are:
Giovanni
Giovanni can speak and sing in six different languages. His aim is to make people laugh while having fun, and just wants everyone to have a good time!
Fire Hose 1 Dixieland Jazz Band
The 7-man strong Fire Hose Jazz Band range in age from 45 to 70 and have been playing together for two years. They are performing the song ‘Doctor Jazz’, originally written by Joe “King” Oliver in 1926.
Alfie
15-year-old Alfie has been performing magic for as long as he can remember. He doesn’t describe himself as a magician, but ‘a normal person who does amazing things’.
Edinburgh Dance Academy
The Edinburgh Dance Academy is an all-girl dance group of 25, aged from 12 to 15. They describe their dancing as a fusion of jazz and Bollywood.
Katie
Although Katie is only 11 years old, she’s already been singing for six years. Since she was a baby people used to call her ‘the little singer’, and her mum says she can’t shut her up!
Joe
Rock and blues musician Joe has been writing and performing his own music for 10 years. He lists Joe Bonamassa as one of his idols, and has entered the BGT YouTube auditions because he wants people to see what he can do.
BlueBlack
BlueBlack is also known as Fabien, an 18-year-old. He says he was hit by a flash of lightning which inspired him and gave him energy. BlueBlack wants to show the world his type of dance.
Claire and Rick
Father and daughter Rick and Claire Wilson have been singing together for 10 years and describe themselves as being very close. They mostly sing doo wop music and would love the chance to perform in front of thousands of people.
Scott
29-year-old Scott has been playing instruments his whole life. Coming from a musical family, Scott wasn’t into football or toys, instead preferring to play instruments such as the piano. He lists his biggest inspirations as Robbie Williams, Adele and Michael Buble.
John
John has been playing guitar since he was 7 years old. An acoustic rock musician, John says he’s performed over 1000 live gigs – but rarely to more than 50 people! He’s inspired by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Olly Murs.
Never Blink
Never Blink have been performing together for around six years, and describe their act as a mixture of basketball, dance and theatre. Inspired by the Harlem Globetrotters, they hope to make the art of freestyle basketball popular all over the world.
The TestostaTones
East Anglian ‘The TestostaTones’ are a five-piece acapella group who’ve been singing together for just 18 months. There are two sets of brothers in the group – Stephen & Paul and Richard & Bim, with their long-time friend Steve completing the line-up.
Little Mee
19-year-old Alex describes his act ‘Little Mee’ as puppetry, magic and illusion rolled into one. He first performed at a holiday park seven years ago, and has been doing it ever since!
Jairo
Jairo has been flamenco dancing since he was 7, and wants to show Britain his very traditional style of Spanish dancing.
Gemma
15-year-old Gemma decided to enter the BGT YouTube Auditions following success in a talent contest at her school. She is performing Ed Sheeran’s ‘The A Team’, Gemma loves bringing enjoyment to others and thinks being on stage at the Royal Variety Performance would be ‘amazing’.
Marc
Marc has been a ventriloquist for 20 years. He wants his act to give people hope, make them smile and inspire them. He says you can never give people enough encouragement.
Rosalyn
16-year-old Rosalyn has been singing opera since she was 11, performing publicly for the last two years. She says Katherine Jenkins is her idol and would love to be like her.
Allan
20-year-old Allan is a self-taught dancer. Inspired by Michael Jackson and James Brown, Allan feels he’s at his dancing peak and is ready to show his talent to the world.
Shadow
Shadow is 20 years old. He sees the stage as a blank page and writes his emotions on it in dance, according to the music. A fan of contemporary jazz rock and hip hop, he wants the audience to empathise with him through his dance.
Georgia
Georgia is 15, her passion for singing started when she was very young, she’s always enjoyed singing songs that tell a story and connect with people’s emotions. Georgia hopes BGT will be the start of her fulfilling her dreams.
Dolly Mix
Dolly Mix, made up of sisters Nicky and Paige and their friend Alesha, have only been singing together for three months. They are performing ‘Sex On Fire’, originally performed by Kings of Leon.
Clodagh
Clodagh has been singing since she was 6 years old, but now that she’s 16 is getting serious about pursuing her dream. Singing Beyonce’s ‘If I Were A Boy’, she’s entered Britain’s Got Talent because she wants to push herself and become a star.
Mike
Comedy impressionist Mike has been doing impressions since he was 21. Mike’s done some stand-up comedy before and is confident that if he makes it in front of the Judges, he’ll impress them.
The six acts with the most votes will be given the opportunity to audition in front of the judges. Who will make the grade?
