SHOW STARTS:

Here we go...

There's only room for one Royal Appointment.

Your finalists are:

Steven Hall

Michael Collings

Les Gibson

James Hobley

Jay McDowall

Razy Gogonea

New Bounce

Paul Gbegbaje

Ronan Parke

Jean Martyn

Don't forget this is the final, all comers must raise their game or else be buzzed! The judges want new, fresh and 'amazing'. Nerves are high and judge Michael McIntyre sums it up perfectly, "it's a life changing night!"

First up is Steven Hall and I'm sorry but out of the ten finalists he ranks number 24 in my book. I have no idea how he made the final over Edward Reid and have to wonder why the judges put him through - where is the talent? If I want to see an old man bop around and make a fool of himself, I'll go to my uncle's wedding after the free bar's closed!

Steven dances to everything from Dolly Parton's 9-5 to Jerry Lee Lewis's Great Balls Of Fire. It was fun granted but no comparison to any of the other acts on the bill. I'd have given my left arm to see what Edward Reid came up with.

David: "You could win this Steven, that was amazing!"

Amanda: "I don't know what will happen after this competition but I'm sure you'll do very well. I'm going to book you."

Simon: "I thought that was fantastic! I loved your choice of songs and you work at it."

Did the judges watch the same thing as me?

I'm confused... Help!

What am I missing people?

Bless Michael Collings. You've got to love him, he's a normal guy with a new baby, very humble, unassuming and hell, just a nice guy. But he's a nice guy with a killer voice! Will it be enough to win it?

Good call. I'm chuffed that he's chosen to sing his first audition song, Fast Car. I loved this first time around and it's 'his song' isn't it...  It relates to his journey and finding where he's supposed to be. "I have a feeling I can be someone..." You can Michael, you can. Good luck, you deserve it.

Michael: "Congratulations Michael, I loved it. I think you've got better and better and your dress sense has got so much better LOL!"

Amanda: "Congratulations, I love the tone of your voice. I can see you making albums. I know your family are here with you and it means so much".

Simon commends Michael for not worrying about the silly things and the production. "I loved the song, I didn't get to hear it first time around and when you sang it in your first audition, you put the song back in the charts. You're not a showy person. You've got the same shirt on as yesterday, and when people have ask you other things you're like "yeah whatever"... I love that it's all just about your voice."

I do too Simon.

Michael's one of my top three!

Les Gibson has worked the impression circuit for 13 years. He's lived a lonely life away from his family travelling the country, all he wants to do is be more successful and make his family proud.

Les pulls it out the bag. The judges were hoping for new material and he doesn't disappoint. He impersonates, The Hoff, Simon Cowell and comes out with a killer Louis Walsh and Michael McIntyre - fantastic stuff.

Amanda: "Tonight there was gems in there but it wasn't quite as good as the semi-final.

Simon: "I sounded like Boris Karloff and Dermot O'Leary sounded like Ross Kemp but you got David and Michael. I agree that it wasn't as good as last time, you could be in trouble tonight."

Michael applaudes his efforts, "I don't think you should be disheartened we've seen your best auditions and you were right to try and 'do us!'"

I enjoyed it, vote Les people!

Think of all the impressions he's done across the board and pick up the phone.

James Hobley is what this show is all about.

This young boy is so dedicated to his art, so sincere and every step is heartfelt and precise.

He dances to Coldplay's Fix You and he couldn't have chosen a better track. Poetry in motion... it's delicate but powerful, not many can manage that!

Simon: "I think you are absolutely brilliant, did you choreograph it yourself?"

James reveals that they kept the original music from the first audition but choreographed a whole new routine. "It's a lot of pressure to pull it all off tonight."

Simon's impressed with that, "That's brilliant. I've never been a fan of individual dances, but there's something about you. You interpret the music beautifully. I think you could do very well tonight."

David agrees, "I can't stop watching you, you have me in a trance."

Amanda says it all, "You've been so much but this is not about your story it's about your talent. That was beautiful."

Paul Gbegbaje is a phenomenal pianist. Fast, furious yet melodic and his fingerwork is just sensational. Sadly, I'm not sure that a 'pure talent' can win this year and that's a shame.

David: "I didn't think you had a chance but tonight you sold that to me. It got better and better and better... you did what you did. You stepped it up five notches for me."

Michael: "It's great to see someone here who's raising their game. I just hope the cameras could pick up how fast you were playing, it was unbelievable."

Amanda: "Simon said it was a risk if you did your own music but tonight you proved that not only are you a great pianist but a fantastic composer."

Simon is gushing. "It was a risk as last time you did a medley, but that was amazing."

Are you a fan or is Paul too high-brow for you?

I feel quite sorry for Ronan Parke, he seems a little jaded in his VT instead of the happy kid we're used to - three guesses why that is? Whoever wrote that stuff online is to blame, he's 12 for crying out loud!

Great song choice after everything that's happened! Ronan performs his own rendition of Kelly Clarkson's Because Of You and honestly, it's nothing short of sensational. It's impossible to believe that such a huge sound can come out of one so tiny. He's obviously emotional but manages to keep it together and the tone of his voice is so smooth yet he's power packed - Go on Ronan!

Michael: "Ronan seriously! That was perfect, I think it was perfect. I'm such a great fan of yours and I was nervous for you when you came out, but the nerves fell from the first not. It was perfection from that point on."

Simon: "How you've coped with everything the past week... To come out and sing like that, you nailed it!"

David is still convinced that Ronan will win this. "Oh boy, you nailed it!"

Is Jean Martyn the jolliest woman on the planet?

I think she may well be!

You've gotta love her, it's cheesy, it's cabaret, it's old-school but good lord she brings a smile don't she?

Jean kicks off with Making Your Mind Up by Bucks Fizz and then there's a medley ending with two verses of You're The One That I Want from Grease. There's more pink sparkles. ooh's and arr's than you can shake a stick at. She kinda looks like I do after six cans of Red Bull LOL!

Amanda: "Oh Jean, you were brilliant again. You've really gone for it tonight. I love the campness and the sparkle and I could watch you for ever and ever!"

Simon: "You're like musical fish and chips. Like something you want to see at the end of the pier occasionally, all the sparkle and the looks."

David: "I can see you performing stadiums, making everybody smile and making their night."

The Hoff: "Jean you know how much I love you and I want to manage you actually. I didn't like the whole side thing, I want to see your face." Well it is the best part of the act isn't it? LOL!

You know when you get the feeling that someone's about to blow the ****ing roof off? Well I've got it right now, Jai McDowall's heading for the stage!

Errr... What?

Oh no... I'm disappointed. I really wanted to hear him sing something contemporary again. It's powerful and the is floor shakin' but I hate the song choice. The nerves aren't as visible tonight and the song is complimented by the choir but it could have been so much more.

Simon: "Jai you know this was very well timed. This was you at your best and I love that song. The winner of this show is gonna get £100,000 and perform for the Queen. Yesterday Diversity came out and acted like winners, that's the first time I've seen you come out and act like a winner. I didn't think the vocal was perfect, it was a little monotone and could have done with some light and shade but I take everything into consideration."

Bit too old fashioned for my taste. I'd have liked a little Snow Patrol for example...

Simon is the first to say that Razy needs to raise his game, "I've seen the same thing... I want something I've never seen before."

Razy delivers, (WOW!) did you see him shake! It was literally like the shift to the Matrix in the movie. His body has a mind of it's own... Razy is Neo! He is 'the one'!

He's shifted himself from dark to light too and the angelic outfit made it so much more dramatic. The production and lighting add to the atmosphere and it was genius to wake up from the table at the start. Now he's spinning fire, totally unexpected! Talk about stepping it up...

Michael: "You totally raised your game. We know all of your moves now but then you gave us so much that was new. I loved the whole waking up on the table thing and then the fire! WOW! It was sensational."

What is Simon talking about? I can't believe he's complaining about the fire, that was one of the best parts. "You went from a dancer to a circus performer and that wasn't the best idea you've had. We should have had a bang at the end and we had a little sizzle." Nonsense! I thought that was the act of the night so far, the shake alone should win it LOL! Totally unique.

Finally we have New Bounce (they really need to change their name, they sound like a washing liquid!)

The boys perform Ain't No Sunshine and I all credit to them. They've really raised their game for the final. The harmonies are dead on, the comradery is obvious, the crowd love it and the judges are obviously impressed. Simon is beaming, I can almost see the pound signs flashing in his eyes!

Michael: "That was sick! That is good isn't it? It's embarrassing that I chose not to put you through."

Amanda: "You sing beautifully together. But don't give Michael any credit on your album, and within the next year you will have an album cover."

Simon hopes the boys are in with a shot at the title as they deserve it and David agrees, "You could have a career together for like 50 years, you're just starting out - amazing stuff!"

Act 8: Jai McDowall

Another great singer, nail both his audition and the semi, hope he gets out there and nails the final.

Ooh ah, hmm nervous start it seemd, but he got it under control and belted it out.

avatar
Awful first act - I agree... should never have made the final. Bleugh!

Act 10: New Bounce

Nice little group of lads that worked at it and got the nod, lets hope they really show what they can do tonight.

hmm no I dont think they've quite hit the mark with that number, still they are good and with some backing they will have a career.

04/06/2011 20:29

Act 9: Razy Gogonea

Amazing dancer in the Auditions and semi finals.....

Again he's just amazing to watch and the fire bit at the end just added a little something else to his act..

Edit: to some the ending may of seemd too slow, but after thinking about it, no it wasn't, it was just missed timed as he was attempting to put out the fire.

04/06/2011 19:41
avatar

Act 4: James Hobley

No doubt he is a good dancer, but i just cant but help think he was put through on a Sympathy Vote, sorry but thats my opinion.

Good routine, but still not as polished as it could of been...

(Only a Sympathy Vote will make him the winner)

Edit: Give him a few years in a decent Ballet school, and he will be Great

04/06/2011 19:36

Act 3: Les Gibson

Great Impressionist, but will need to pull out all the stops tonight.

Lol the Judges got nailed except for Amanda, overall not as great as his Audition and semi, big shame that. Still a good laugh.

As long as neither Steven or Jean win I'll be satisfied by the shows conclusion.

Would love to see Ronan or James take it.

04/06/2011 19:13
avatar

Act 1: Steven Hall

Should never of made the semi-finals and pure fix he made the final.

Sorry but he is still boring

BIG THUMBS DOWN Thumbs down

OMG!!!!   Amanda put him in same league as Stavros, what is she thinking, thats an insult to a Father and Son who did have talent.

there we go,, the favourite gets well... hit... interesting the story that came out this week... I wouldn't say that the result makes good headlines, but the debate will keep BGT in the headlines for a few weeks.. but the public voted, and we all trust telephone voting these days   ;-)

But Jai is good and has a very pure voice, so good luck bud, the real challenge is turning your 15 mins of fame into a lifetime. I am sure we will all be barracking for you.

Act 7: Jean Martyn

Another act that should not of been in the final, I still think she was miming the keyboards.

Well tonight it did appear she was actually playing, but she aint got a chance against Paul Gbegbaje.

Gr8 Result glad that Ronan Parkes didn't win.

Come back when your voice as broke, and the song he did tonght proved he was not as good .

THANK GOODNESS

avatar
ok well... Ronan didn't win, so I wish the judges they would focus on Jai and not Ronan as the other 8 are going to feel lousy. It should be all Jai now (watching ITV2...)

Congrats Jai
avatar

Do wish they would stop showing the stage from the back of the studio, you can miss so much going on

Act 6: Ronan Parkes

Very good singer and stands a good chance to win (But way to much controversy surrounding him which could derail the win).

Well no matter what, he can certainly sing and will no doubt have a great career ahead of him.
