Big Brother task update: Lab Rats

On waking the housemates discovered that there was no food in the house! (Insert dramatic music here.)

But where was the grub? Big Brother made it clear that the housemates could earn back their food in this week's task. The three most intelligent housemates were elected to play the role of 'scientists' - the group went for Lydia, Benedict and Luke A. The other 12 housemates dressed up as rats.

And then the fun started...

Big Brother subjected the housemates to some weird and wonderful experiments (mwah, ha, ha, ha!)

Stage 1: The Food Wheel

This experiment was to test the housemates powers of observation. The rats were required to tread the human-sized hamster wheel in the garden to earn food but if a woman ran, they'd receive cheese-based tasty treats, if a man ran then it was slop all round. Thankfully Lauren clicked pretty quickly and they stocked up on goodies quick smart.

Stage 2: Eyes on the Prize

This experimant tested the housemates' concentration. They wore high-tech eye-tracking glasses and had to stare at a prize while distractions came from all angles. Ashleigh, Shievonne, Scott and Luke S all managed to complete the task and it was time for Stage 3.

Stage 3: Hypnotised (Conformity)

Scott thought his luck was in when he was invited to attened a party-for-one in the Diary Room. Big Brother claimed it was his reward for the Eyes on the Prize task, but it wasn't. While Scott enjoyed the party, the housemates were advised that they must pretend to be hypnotised and follow the scientists instructions. If Scott believed they were 'under the influence' then they'd pass this past of the task - and no surprise, he did. So gullible Scott! .

Stage 4: Impossible Maze (Sleep Learning)

And finally it was time for the impossible maze. Caroline spent the night in the Large Task Room and was played subliminal messages throughout her sleep. Big Brother told her repeatedly that she was 'the best and most intelligent rat' so no doubt he had his fingers crossed she'd do well.

Becky was placed inside a huge maze in the garden and asked to find the cheese. Unfortunately for her, there was no cheese and the maze was impossible to escape from. Big Brother had secretly given confidence conditioning to Caroline throughout the night and the point of the exercise was to see if she'd try harder and for longer than the other housemates. Unfortunately this task proved that subliminal messages for just one night does nothing, Caroline chucked the towel in as quickly as the others. #epicfail!

They may have bombed in the maze but I'll be surprised if the housemates don't pass this baby. They've done pretty well considering some of them genuinely have the concentration span of a lab rat. I wonder if Big B's planning to grow a human ear on the back of one of them?
