The BBC's ambition to build on the multi-platform success of its Beijing 2008 coverage has been a resounding, astonishing success - like the London 2012 Games itself.

Auntie offered viewers almost virtually unlimited choice on all platforms. Gold medal to the Beeb, certainly. But how did its many presenters do? Find out in this gallery.

Clare Balding (gold medal) - A peerless combination of professionalism and enthusiasm. Her memorable impromptu interview with South African swimmer Chad Le Clos’ emotional dad Bert is just one reason to crown Clare the best of the BBC bunch. Difficult to fault anything about her. Hmm... I don’t like her hair. That’s all I’ve got.

I to thought she was excellent and informed on many sports-  however it was disappointing to hear her say Rebecca Adlington ONLY got the bronze............ Come on cut the girl some slack, she is an excellent swimmer always conducting her self in the right manner, humble and would be already beating herself up.

Another question is why Gary Lineker was used to interview athletes when his first line was always 'Not that I know much about your sport....' Stick with football Gary!

Well done the Beeb for getting Michael Johnson & Ian Thorpe, both excellent. MArk Foster was also good with Claire on the swimming. Regards the tv Anchors, i think Sue Barker, stood out, with John Inverdale & Claire Balding also very good.

I wonder, how can you be British if you weren't born in Britain? Sorry but I don't get it

Jake Humphrey.  What a bore, he turns exciting sporting events into a snooze fest.  Get rid of him.

They all deserve to be fired, what a rubbish coverage of the olympics, only talk talk and talk , lots of sports events going on and we have to listen this non sense talking. BBC is absolutely useless, I don't understand WHY we have to pay TV Licence to watch  rubbish.

The worst interviewer was undoubtable the idiot..Philip something, who interviewed the athletics as they came off the track..someone loses out on a place in the finals and he asked ' how do you feel'...how the hell did he expect them to feel ???? and his interview with the marathon winner was pathetic ...the guy couldnt even answer him and left him  floundering.

Interesting in that the gold medals were the older commentators!

Lets keep it real, they did a great job and they where well paid for it, the medals should go to the thousands and thousands of fans around the world that stayed up to watch a fantastic Olympics and support team GB. The spectacular opening and closing ceremonies and all the effort from the British volunteers and the team GB athletes  put the GREAT back into Britain. Seb Coe and all your team I salute you

Clare balding will never get my vote cause she has a cold war mentality which was exposed with her baised coverage of the chinese swimmer.she should be working for fox news.  but the worst has to be Denise lewis.apart from her limited understanding of some sports, her coverage of the 100 meters finals was embarrassing.especialy when she thought she was off camera.not very lady like

I agree with you Goldie, I am afraid I have to say BBC coverage of the olympics was quite poor and, with all my respects, some of the presenters shouldn't be on TV .....C Jackson among others!

I didn't  used to like Claire Balding, but she was really good. Ad-libbed fantasically, and the georgeous Gabby logan deserved a Gold. Denise Lewis deserved a mention just for her enthusiasm if anything. BBC you done good for once!
